Death Cab. Ending writer's block since 1997. At just under nine minutes long, this song is quiet enough that it won't distract you, but not so slow that it will put you to sleep. The first four minutes of the song are purely instrumental and then comes Ben Gibbard's voice:

How I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me
It's like a book elegantly bound, but in a language that you can't read - just yet
You gotta spend some time--love, you gotta spend some time with me
And I know that you'll find--love, I will possess your heart

I know I have a handful of writers on my flist. What's your writing music?

Days devoted especially to couples make me uncomfortable. I was walking around campus all day dodging bouquets and balloons and stuffed bears and the annoying, smiling people that carried them. I will never admit my jealousy, of course; if I die a lonesome cat lady, at least I'll have my pride.

And so, my darlings, I present to you six songs that got me through the day without strangling anyone. Happy Valentine's Day.
